Important Note:

During the 80’s and 90’s, CCA pressure-treated pine was used by many swing set manufacturers – it is now banned.

Recently the Better Business Bureau issued a decision concerning swing set industry manufacturers who have used the wood description Chinese Fir (cunninghamia lanceolata) and marketed it as “Chinese Cedar” – often shortened to “Cedar.” To avoid confusion with American Western Red Cedar (thuja plicata), manufacturers must prominently include (cunninghamia lanceolata) adjacent to references of “Cedar” lumber.

While Rainbow Play Systems did use Chinese Fir (cunninghamia lanceolata) in manufacturing during 2008 and 2009, it was never portrayed as “Chinese Cedar” or “Cedar.”
